Scofflaw Nail Varnish- Flotsam & Jetsam

Hi everyone!

Ugh! Once again, school has gotten the best of me! It's actually to the point where it feels weird to even have nail polish on *gasp*! A bit of a back story, but I'm not allowed to wear polish to class unless I wear gloves. Gloves and facials do not really mix, hence my lack of posts! So sorry! I'm starting to get into more of a grove, and plan of having more time to swatch and such. For the moment, I have a gorgeous Scofflaw polish to show you! You can find Scofflaw Nail Varnish on Etsy as well as on Llarowe.

So I basically stalked Esty and Llarowe for what felt like weeks before I got my hands on two Scofflow polishes right when they were released. As soon as I saw Flotsam & Jetsam, I knew it had to be mine. Minty goodness and shredded glitter?!?! What more could I ask for? Flotsam & Jetsam is a light minty, crellish polish with a beautiful turquoise shimmer. Best part about it, it has purple and turquoise shards and glitter! Application was a bit cumbersome. It took three coats to even out, and slightly flooded my cuticles. I expected to get more shards on the nail then I ended up with, but I do absolutely love the polish! I don't really think the pictures do it justice.

I could not figure out what Flotsam & Jetsam reminded me off, and it just dawned on me that it's the names of the eels in The Little Mermaid! I thought I would share this again because of The Little Mermaid reference LOL.

I hope everyone has an awesome week! Now I'm just going to go sing the song from The Little Mermaid for the rest of the night....thank's self.

Stripes and Shreds

Hi everyone!

I decided to do a mani featuring some nail polish strips from the brand Nail Fraud. I received a pack of these in a Nail Art Society box awhile ago, and I wanted to do something neat with them. The Nail Fraud strips came with twenty polish strips and I only used two, so I'm sure you will see these again in the future! They come with a orange stick and file like most other brands. I honestly have no idea where you can get these besides online, but they seem to be priced similarly to other brands that are more readily available.

I don't think the strips I received have a name, but they are horizontal black & white stripes. I decided to take a larger strip and apply it vertically. I had to use the orange stick to sort of outline the extra strip and peel it off. The edges are a bit jagged, but it's ok. I really like the combination of the stripes! I used Bettina- Sand Blast, a light gray creme and Sation- Tall, Dark, and Has Some on my pink and pointer. TDHS is a shredded blue glitter topper with black and blue hexes. I think there's a few tiny silver hexes in there to. The combination of stripes and glitter is so fun! Kinda punk-rock, no?

The Nail Fraud Strips seem to be holding up, but I'm not sure how they would be without a top coat. I really do enjoy nail polish strips, and I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for some fun spring patterns!

Spring Blossoms

Hello!

First off I want to say "Hi!" to all of my new friends! I hope you all have been enjoying my blog, and I'm so glad you were excited about my giveaway! For those of you who were super excited about a little monster from Little Lazies being included in my giveaway, keep an eye out on my Facebook page for a picture of my Little Lazies collection! Thank you for supporting my blog <3

I have a super random floral nail art to show you all tonight. I started out with just a plain mani using Love & Beauty- Babyface from Forever 21. On the label this polish is called Baby Blue/ Hot Pink, but that's another story. It's a really precious, blue-gray crelly with teeny tiny black glitters, and holographic and pink hexes. I thought it needed a little something, so I got out a flat nail art brush and painted on some flower type things. I'm not entirely sure if they are flowers, but that's what I'm going with! The flowers are done with Zoya- Reagan with a bit of silver doted in the middle.

I hope you all have a great weekend! Is there anything special you would like to see on my blog? Let me know!

Liquid Lacquer- The Rain Song

Hello everyone!

Long time, no post! I'm sorry! School is really getting the best of me, but it sure is paying off because I got a 96% on my first exam, woohoo! Some of you might have seen from Facebook, but the 14th was my blogs first blogiversary! I was waiting for a few other goodies to come in the mail, and they have so a giveaway will be up soon! I'm really super excited about it, and I think you all will love it! Thank you so much for enjoying my blog along with me for my first year!

I have a rather appropriate polish to show you all tonight, considering it's pouring here in Maryland! This is my first Liquid Lacquer polish, and I'm already in love! It's called The Rain Song, and it's from the newer Physical Graffiti Collection. The Physical Graffiti Collection has solely holographic polishes, and it consists of quite a few stunners! The Rain Song is a super bright, ever so slightly, holographic turquoise. The holo definitely isn't super strong, and is more scattered when it is noticeable. The color of the polish is absolutely lovely regardless! The application was ok. On the second coat, a few nails were still patchy, but a third coat fixed 'em right up. I'm just really lovin' the color!

One coat of Poshe

Be sure to like Liquid Lacquer on Facebook to be notified of upcoming restocks, and keep an eye out for my First Year Blogiversary Giveaway some time this week!
If you have any polishes in mind that are simular in color to The Rain Song, let me know! I would love to pick a few up :D

F4 Polish- Strawberry Shortcake

Hello again!

I have a polish to show you today that I'm actually ashamed I've never worn because it's so gorgeous! I love me some F4 Polish, and I still have quite a few I have yet to try on. The stunner I'm showing you today is F4 Polish- Strawberry Shortcake! I am so in love!

Strawberry Shortcake could not possibly be any closer to what I would think of if someone was talking about strawberry shortcake. Now I'm not sure what's going on because all the other pictures I've seen of this polish it has a creme base. Mine is very much so a shimmer. The base is a mauvey pink with a shimmer that looks slightly golden. It then has pink, red and holographic micro glitter along with white hexes. The application was awesome. Slightly thick, but only needed two good coats. I seriously don't even want to take this off! I keep staring at my nails in amazement. For such a simple color combination, it really is gorgeous! To bad I only got a mini.

One coat of Gelous

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

F4 Polish is having a $5 off $20 sale on their Big Cartel! Use the code f4polish! The sale is going on until the 17th.

Spring Has Sprung!

Hello!!

I hope everyone has had a great week! I was feeling springy today, and decided to try my hand at some floral nail art. I really had no idea where I was going with this, but I think it turned out kinda cute!

For this mani I used Zoya- Coraline as my base. Coraline is a bright jelly orange. I used three coats, and it still showed my tips a bit. Then I used Zoya- Lara (medium pink) and Shelby (light pink) to create my flower. I used a tiny nail art brush, and just painted lines in a semi circle half way up my nail. To create a bit more dimension, I added a bit of Zoya- Belle for some sparkle. Then I poped on an orange rhinestone to make it a bit more flower-esque. It kinda looks a bit like daises, and I love that it's so bright!

I've really been into simple nail art lately. If you have any suggestions I should try, let me know!

Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone is having a great day so far! I have a super fun Easter mani to show you all. Spring has officially sprung, and I'm so excited for wear bright colors and not look crazy! I knew I wanted to do a gradient, and a little baby bunny, so this is what I ended up with!

The polishes I used were Zoya- Shelby (pink), OPI- Rumple's Wiggin' (purple), OPI- No Room For The Blues (blue), Essie- Mojito Madness (green), and China Glaze- Lemon Fizz (yellow). I was in a bit of a rush, so some nails didn't get as even of a gradient as I would have liked, but I love the final result! I'm so ready for warm weather, and these colors make me so happy! For my little bunny I used white acrylic paint. The glare makes his ear look a bit funny, but I promise he isn't so deformed in real life LOL.

So now I have some life things to talk about... I recently started Esthetician school, and there are a few things that might effect my blog. I had to cut my nails super short, I can only wear neutral polish, and if I have any polish on I have to wear gloves. Rarely do I not have a glitter polish on, and the only neutral polishes I own are pinks and grays. I'm hoping I will be able to post on Friday nights. I was curious if you all would be open to me posting about my experiences and such, or just strictly doing nail posts when time allows?

Let me know!

Hard Candy- Candy Sprinkles Collection: Part Two

Hi Everyone!

I finally have the second part of the Hard Candy Sprinkles Collection to show you all! There were two polishes in the collection that I decided not to get, Sweet Tooth and Cocoa Smore. They appeared to be exact dupe of Nails Inc- Sweets Way and Sugar House Lane, which I own. So I actually have four more polishes to show you. I bought seven total, and you can see the other three in my Part One post.
These four where consistent with the last three. Application was pretty good, but a few were a bit thick. All required at least two coats, but I did three. I had a hard time picking a favorite from this bunch! I love most of them... They are all topped with one coat of Gelous and one coat of Poshe. On to the swatches!

First up is Sugar Rush! The base is a very light gray that looks white in most light. It's super simple with just black and silver glitter. As I said in my Part One post, the silver glitter often appears white from the base color. I wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I did! Definitely the most neutral polish in the Candy Sprinkles Collection.

Up next is another stunner, Jelly Bean Blue! Jelly Bean Blue has a baby blue base with black and  blue glitter. In the bottle, the blue glitter appears to shine, but on the nail it most definitely has a matte glitter look.

Next we have Pixie Pink! I think this one has the most unique combination of glitter, but sadly was not one of my favorites on. It has teal, pink and silver glitter in a pinky-lavender base. This one was a bit trickier to apply, and the glitter doesn't stand out as much as I would like.

Last but not least, we have, to me, the funest of the collection, Peach Pop! It's a bright orange base with red and/or pink and silver glitter. Again, I didn't really love this with my skin tone, but I love the polish.   A great one to pick up for summer!

I hope you all liked the rest of the Candy Sprinkles Collection! Are you going to be picking up any?

St. Patty's Day Skittles!

Happy Saturday!

I was feeling a bit festive, so I decided to do a St. Patrick's Day mani! I was going to do a water marble, but I was craving some sparkle, as always. I searched through my stash for almost every green and gold I own to figure out what I wanted to to. I ended up for four polishes, and all but one are untrieds! Yay me!

I don't think I've ever done a legit skittles mani before, but I think they're so fun! The polishes I used were A England- Dragon, butter LONDON- West End Wonderland, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear- Set the Stage, and Sephora By OPI- It's Real Top Coat. I used two coats of Dragon on all but my middle finger, which has three coats of West End Wonderland. My pointer and pinky are glitter gradiented with West End Wonderland; my ring finger has one coat of It's Real and one coat of Set the Stage. I'm in love with the end result! Green and glitter, what more could a girl want?!

Are you doing anything fun for St. Patrick's Day?

Candy Coated Unicorns!

Hello!

I've done a bit of polish hauling lately! Surprisingly, I haven't bought any new Indies in awhile. Just some drugstore beauties! I don't think I've bought a polish that was more the $5 in the past month... If you don't count those Nerd Lacquers I just bought today, oops. Anywho, if you all want to see a haul let me know!

I have a very simple, but really pretty combo to show you all! Spring is upon us, and I love me some pastels, so of course I had to pick up a few of the Sinful Colors Sugar Rush polishes. Candy Coated is my favorite of the bunch! For this mani I used two coats. It has a really fine, barely noticeable, shimmer. It's one of those periwinkles that crosses more into blue or purple depending on the light. Love it! Then I toped it off with one coat Love & Beauty- Moonwalk from Forever 21. I wasn't sure I was going to like Moonwalk, but it is SO stunning on! Especially over Candy Coated. Moonwalk is a sheer, frosty white with a pink duochrome, and scattered holographic glitter. No streaks, and it isn't extremely frosty on. It would look amazing over black! My camera hates me, so of course it barely captured the duochrome. It makes me think of unicorns. Don't ask me why...

Two coats of Sinful Colors- Candy Coated
One coat of Love & Beauty- Moonwalk
One coat of Poshe

Does anyone else hate that online, Forever 21 has names for the polishes, but when you get them they have stupid names like White/Crystal, Mint, Blue/Pink, and Multi? Blah, you suck Forever 21!

Hard Candy- Candy Sprinkles Collection: Part One

Hello!

I have something SUPER exciting for you all! It's part one of my Hard Candy- Candy Sprinkles Collection swatch and review! If you haven't heard the news yet, go check out the Hard Candy Facebook page for promo pictures of the whole Spring 2013 line. It includes 45, yes 45, new nail polishes in a variety of shades and finishes. I have my eye on the Candy Sprinkles Collection in particular, though I will pick up a few others. The whole Spring 2013 collection is rolling out in Walmart stores, and according to Hard Candy, will be available on Walmart's' website within two weeks! They are retailing for $3.97, but I paid $4.

Now I will let you all know, I might not being buying the whole Candy Sprinkles collection. There are at least two that I don't want to buy because they appear to be dupes for a few of the Nail Inc Sprinkles, which I already own. Who knows, I might end up getting them anyway! I'm still on the hunt for the remaining polishes. These three seem to be the only ones I can find at the moment. Bare with me if it takes a week or two to get Part Two, and possibly Part Three up!

So lets get on to the polish already! The Candy Sprinkles Collection is very simular to the Nails Inc Sprinkles. They are a sheer-ish colored base with multicolored glitter. The glitter is all the same size, but the colors vary depending on the polish. The pigmentation on all of these is amazing, and they only required two coats. Weird considering Hard Candy is promoting them as "glitter suspended in a clear top coat". They are not by any means in a clear base! I toped all of them with one coat of Poshe, though I probably should have done a coat of Gelous first.

First up is my favorite of the bunch, and I'm assuming my favorite of the collection, Gummy Green! This was the first I saw of the collection, and it was love at first sight. Hard Candy's pictures make this appear way more green then it actually is. Gummy green is more of a bright mint/ light turquoise, but stunning none the less! It has black and silver glitter, but because the base is colored the silver glitter appears white. The application was the best out of the three. It applied smoothly, and the glitter didn't need any maneuvering at all. The base color wan't patchy either. Obsessed!

Next up is Pink Taffy! Pink Taffy has a bright, medium pink base with black, silver and magenta glitter. I found this one to be the hardest to apply. I think it was a tab bit thicker then the others, and the glitter seemed more sparse. Even looking at the bottle, it appears to have less glitter. I think it's still really cute though, and perfect for those of you that love pink!

Rounding up Part One is Cotton Candy Pink! This one is definitely a more neutral toned pink. It has silver and purple glitter though which I love! It was slightly thicker then Gummy Green, but not as bad as Pink Taffy. I think they do need to be a bit thicker to get the opacity they have. I was expecting it to need three coat, as it was the lightest of the three, but it was perfect at two. This is a really neat polish for Spring! I don't really love this tone of pink on me though.

What do you all think?! I'm absolutely in love with them all! I'm really enjoying the color combinations, and I was surprised at how opaque they are! Pretty great for only $4 bucks! I hope I can snatch the rest up soon. Trust me, I've been stalking every Walmart I'm by to see if they have them out yet. Have you been able to pick any up yet from the new collection? If you have, what do you think of them?

A Simple Zoya Combo

Happy Friday!

Oh man, have I been lazy. I'm not gonna lie, it's been hard for me to get back into the swing of things since I got back from vacation. I seriously haven't had anything on my nails but OPI Nail Envy for probably the past week and a half. On the bright side, I'm really liking Nail Envy! My nails have been growing SUPER fast! Can't tell yet if it's strengthening them, as my nails like to break left and right. So far so good!

I have a Zoya combo to show you guys today. A little while back, Zoya did a BOGO, or something like that. I picked up two of the Pixie Dusts, and a few other polishes from the newer collections. I decided I wanted to do a simple design with Vespa, which is part of the Pixie Dust collection, and Neely, part of the Lovely collection. I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about the Pixie Dust polishes. I like my polish smooth and glossy. I'll tell you my decision on them at the end! I did three coats of Vespa, and added two coats of Neely on my ring finger. Then I did what I'm calling "gradient dots" with Vespa on top of Neely. Pretty simple, but I'm enjoying it!

Three coats of Zoya- Vespa
Two coats of Zoya- Neely
Vespa dots

Here's the mani with one coat of Gelous and one coat of Poshe. I couldn't help it.

Now the texture of the Pixie Dusts was not as bad as I expected. It really was weird though. I don't hate the way it looks without a top coat, but I LOVE it with one. It sparkles regardless! I found one coat of Gelous and one coat of Poshe plenty sufficient to cover the texture. Who knows, I might pick up the rest of the collection just because I love Vespa with a top coat!
