Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone is having a great day so far! I have a super fun Easter mani to show you all. Spring has officially sprung, and I'm so excited for wear bright colors and not look crazy! I knew I wanted to do a gradient, and a little baby bunny, so this is what I ended up with!

The polishes I used were Zoya- Shelby (pink), OPI- Rumple's Wiggin' (purple), OPI- No Room For The Blues (blue), Essie- Mojito Madness (green), and China Glaze- Lemon Fizz (yellow). I was in a bit of a rush, so some nails didn't get as even of a gradient as I would have liked, but I love the final result! I'm so ready for warm weather, and these colors make me so happy! For my little bunny I used white acrylic paint. The glare makes his ear look a bit funny, but I promise he isn't so deformed in real life LOL.

So now I have some life things to talk about... I recently started Esthetician school, and there are a few things that might effect my blog. I had to cut my nails super short, I can only wear neutral polish, and if I have any polish on I have to wear gloves. Rarely do I not have a glitter polish on, and the only neutral polishes I own are pinks and grays. I'm hoping I will be able to post on Friday nights. I was curious if you all would be open to me posting about my experiences and such, or just strictly doing nail posts when time allows?

Tough Love

Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the lack of post last week. I had a some what horrible cold/flu/bug that had me doing nothing but laying in bed pretty much all week. But I'm back with another Valentine's Day mani! I wanted to do something a bit darker, and I wanted to use some studs. I ended up with a mani that I'm totally loving!

For my Tough Love mani I used two coat of OPI- Black Onxy on all but my ring finger. On my ring finger I have two coat of Zoya- Delilah, which is one of my all time favorite reds. I added studs to all the Black Onyx nails. The studs are from Born Pretty, and I'm pretty sure they are 2mm. Now for the lovey dovey part! I practiced drawing hearts with a dotting tool until I was happy with how they turned out. All you really have to do is place two dots fairly close together, and sort of drag polish to connect them in a point at the bottom. Then I drew a few on top of Delilah, and added a few dots in the empty spaces. I like how it's a Valentine's Day mani, but with an edge!

Amy's Nail Boutique- Ecopolo

Hello, Hello!

So before I even get into the hell of a gorgeous polish I have to show you today, I need to let you know that it was a special polish created by Amy's Nail Boutique for the ladies of a Facebook group I'm in. As far as I know, it won't be available to purchase from Amy. Who doesn't like to see some gorgeous polish anyways?! Do check out Amy's Etsy! She recently added a bunch of new colors!

I'm going to be showing you Amy's Nail Boutique- Ecopolo! Now half the reason this polish is so rocking, is because it has circular glitter in it! I don't think I have any other polishes that do as of yet. Ecopolo is a mix of magenta, blue and purple glitter in a micro shimmer base. There's circles, squares and shreds. I think there are some smaller holographic hexes to. It just has so much going on, but in a good way! I used OPI- No Room For The Blues as a base, and then did two coats of Ecopolo. It's so stunning on, and I've been getting compliments left and right. Application was great, and the glitter applied evenly without any coaxing.

Ok, so I have a few other tidbits to mention! From now until the 26th, all my posts I put up will be scheduled. I'm leaving for vacation on the 14th, but I didn't want to leave you all hanging for that long! I will try to respond to any comments on those posts as frequently as I can. I'll be cruising to the Caribbean, so I'm hoping to pick up some neat polish for my One Year Blogoversary Giveaway which will be in April!

Now for my second tidbit. I have been LOVING Orly Bonder! Definitely my new favorite base coat. I've said in previous posts how hard it is to keep nail polish on while I'm at work, but it's been doing the trick. I do really want to try OPI Nail Envy in the feature though.

Candy Corn Splatter!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted much this week. I had a ton of school work that snuck up on me! I have another platter mani for you all today! Who doesn't love candy corn? I'm working on a tutorial post for this as well. I haven't done a tutorial post yet so it's taking me awhile to figure out how to photograph the steps. It's coming soon though! I think I have two or three more Halloween manis to accomplish. I hope you all like them! On to the candy corn!

So, just like any splatter mani you need your basic tools: a straw (cut into multiple pieces if you have multiple colors), a paper towel, tape or vaseline to protect around your fingers, your polish of choice, and q-tips for clean up. For this mani, I knew I wanted my base to be white so the yellow and orange would really pop! I used two coats of OPI- My Boyfriend Scales Wales. I love this white, it's amazing. For the yellow I used Maybelline- Fierce N Tangy, and the orange is Sinful Colors- Courtney Orange. I love that Courtney Orange has shimmer because it adds something extra to the mani. To create the splatter, literally all you do is dip the straw into the polish and blow it on to the nail. If you don't get as much splatter as you want, do it again. It's really simple, just messy! Make sure to wait about 10 minutes before you put your topcoat on or it will smear your splatter.

I always love the way splatter manis look in the end. It might be a bit time consuming and messy, but totally worth it!

Lazy Days of Summer- Pool Party

I hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend! I have the sixth LDoS challenge for you today! It's the Pool Party Challenge! I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do. I kinda just went for it. I knew I wanted to do a beach ball, that's about it. So this is what I ended up with! All of the colors I used will be listed above the picture.

For the beach ball nail I used striping tape and marked off an X with a line through the middle. I then painted each triangle so that the colors were diagonal from each other. I did a beach towel inspired nail as well. The remaining nails are Maybelline- Porcelain Party with China Glaze- Ride The Waves on top. Last time I used Ride The Waves it appeared opaque but in pictures you could see VNL so I put it over white. I love how squishy it looks! I think it's a pretty cute mani!

Lazy Days of Summer- Flag Day

Who's a slacker? Jessica's a slacker! Sorry for taking so long to do the next LDoS challenge! It's what, like ten days past the 4th of July? Sounds like some serious slacking to me! I originally planned to have a 4th of July mani as my flag day mani, but alas, it did not happen... obviously. So for the sake of not cheating on the challenge, here is my flag day mani!

I actually really like the way this turned out. I know it's simple but it's still super pretty.  Considering it's so far past the 4th, I just wanted to keep it simple. I decided to use my favorite red, OPI- Color So Hot It Berns. I really do love this red. It so vibrant yet still a true red. As always, I did an accent nail. Accent nails are my go to when I'm to lazy to do any nail art but I want something other then a plain mani. I used a base of Maybelline- Porcelain Party and topped it with F4 Polish- Cali's Creation. Oh F4, you steal my heart with every polish of yours I put on. The base glitter in Cali's Creation is kinda weird. In the light it just looks red but in the shade it looks sort of purple. Who knows, I'm going to pretend it's red! Besides the red/purple base glitter it has tiny blue squares, so cute! You can find F4 Polish on Etsy. Those ladies are seriously amazing and their polishes are even more stunning in person!

Lazy Days of Summer- Summer Ombre

Finally, a new post! My power is on and running!  Today I have the second challenge in the LDoS nail challenge. It's summer ombre nails! This is actually my second mani for this challenge but my pictures somehow got deleted when the power went out. I was actually resizing them when the power went out so that's probably why. Oh well, I like how this turned out better! Now this was kinda hard for me because I tend to not purchase that many multiple colors in one color family. Blue seemed to be the only color family that I had a decent amount of creme polishes in. I really wanted to stay with the same finish for all the polishes. I'm not sure how summery is it thought. I mean blue is the color or water, right :P

Five fingers, five colors. The polishes I picked were Maybelline- Sapphire Siren (thumb), China Glaze- Ride The Waves (pointer), Julep- Jaime (middle), OPI- No Room For The Blues (ring) and Hello Kitty- Blueberry (pinky). Three coats of everything except Ride The Waves, which was four. I know in the pictures there is VNL but it's not there in real life. I think it's a pretty successful ombre, don't you? There's an extra picture including my thumb so you can see the whole effect!

OPI- You're A Pisa Work Featuring Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Ok guys, this is a substitute post! I found this draft that I never posted. I figured I would go ahead and post it considering I don't know when I will be able to put another one up. Some of you might know this already if you follow my Facebook page but we got hit with a pretty bad storm. Our power went out and I'm betting it will be at least three days before it's back on. Last time the power went out, it was off for a week. I absolutely can not stand when the power goes out! Considering I usually do my nails at night, I'm pretty much screwed. I will try my hardest to get a new post up by the middle of the week but who knows. For now, I hope you like what I have!

I think I did this mani about two weeks ago. Not totally sure why I never posted it. I had found these Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips at Target for like three bucks, score! I believe the pattern is Mad For Plaid but I could be wrong. I didn't want to use them in a full mani so I chose to do some accent nails. I chose OPI- You're A Pisa Work for the rest of my nails. I think they turned out pretty cute! I was trying to pick a pink to match the pink stripe in the plaid. The one thing I don't like about the nail strips is if you happen to stretch them to far, it will start to split the design. You can see what I mean on my thumb below. You're A Pisa Work was one of my first OPI's and I still love wearing it! It applies evenly in two coats. It seems to be a bit brighter in pictures then it is in real life.

I hope this will hold you guys over till I can get another post up. I'm thinking it will probably be the next Reader's Choice Wednesday but hopefully I can get my next Lazy Days Of Summer mani up before then. Did I mention I accidentally deleted the pictures I had? Yeah, it's not my week.

Essie- Mojito Madness With Stripes!

Boy, oh boy, I sure love me some green polish! I saw this pretty baby at Walgreens and just had to pick it up. I'm not on a no buy or anything..... ;)

I knew before I put Mojito Madness on that I was going to love it. I also knew I wanted to add some type of design. I had yet to try out my striping tape I ordered so I pulled it out and this was the end result! I call this design, "American Eagle Chic" LOL! Doesn't it look like a polo shirt you would get from American Eagle!? I love it regardless, and I was very happy with the application of Mojito Madness. It has perfect two coat coverage. As for it being my first time using striping tape, it was fairly easy. I did my two coats of Mojito Madness topped with a coat of Poshe, laid down the tape, applied a thick layer of OPI- No Room For The Blues, pulled off the tape, LET IT DRY (very important or it will smudge when you apply your top coat), laid down the silver stripe and applied a second coat of Poshe. And that my friends, is how you can achieve your "American Eagle Chic"mani at home! On to the pictures!
