Reader's Choice Wednesday Featuring Amy's Nail Boutique

Yay! This will be the first post for Reader's Choice Wednesday! Sorry for the lack of posts this past week. I had a bunch to do. I also managed to break a nail at work. I should know by now not to go to work without polish on! Thankfully it didn't break so badly that they had to become nubbins. I aslo wanted to take a moment and congratulate Erin and Corrinne for winning my Facebook and blog giveaways! I hope you ladies love your new polish!

There was actually a tie for Reader's Choice. It was between Amy's Nail Boutique- Preppy and Nostalgic Nail Lacquer- Jordan. I ended up choosing Preppy! It's actually two of my favorite colors, lime green and pink! It's also matte glitter, so what more could a girl ask for! I couldn't decide if I wanted to layer it or not. I went back and forth quite a bit. I ended up not layering it because I really wanted the glitter to stand out. I don't think I would recommend not layering it. It took me four coats to achieve to opacity you see below. As you might have guessed, it because quite thick. Not horribly thick but it's noticeable. The polish applied wonderfully. The glitter just isn't really dense enough to use by itself. In the end, the tiny lime green and pink matte glitters look stunning. From far away they give off an orange hue. I'm in love! You can purchase Amy's polish from her Etsy

Lazy Days of Summer- Beach Theme Nails!

Hey everyone! I took the plunge and agreed to do the Lazy Days of Summer (LDoS) nail challenge! I have never done a nail challenge before, nor do I think I'm that skilled at nail art, so this shall be interesting! There are 14 different challenges, some that I'm sure will test my creativity and patience.

The first challenge is "Beach Theme" and I knew what I wanted to do right away, a WATER marble. I thought it was quite smart of me to think of a water marble! I haven't done a water marble in quite some time but I'm pretty pleased with the results. Besides the bubbles...one polish I used refused not to bubble. More on that in a minute. If your unfamiliar with how to water marble, you will find a ton of information on our friend, Google. I used four polishes for this water marble: The "sand" was Essie- Topless & Barefoot, the "water" was Zoya- Bevin and Wednesday and the "froth" was Maybelline- Porcelain Party. Oh Porcelain Party, why must you bubble so much? Yes, Porcelain Party was the bubbling culprit! I noticed right away that it would bubble because once I dropped it in the water holes appeared. I have never used Maybelline polishes before and now I'm hesitant to use it again. Time for pictures!

What I attempted to create was more "sand" on the bottom two fingers and more "water" on the top two to simulate crashing waves. I think I was successful, no? Ugh, the bubbles! Now for the other wonderful ladies participating in the LDoS challenge with me!

Excited to see what challenge is up next?

Don't forget to vote for the Readers Choice Wednesday poll!

Nail-Venturous- Orange You Unique

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! I have something to pass buy you guys before I get on to the post. I've been going back and forth with the idea of doing like a "Readers Choice" day where I will have a poll going for a week with multiple polishes listed. Then on said day, whatever polish wins will be what I do my post on. What do you guys think? I would like to be a bit more involved with everyone and that's what I came up with! Yay or Nay, let me know! Now on to the regulary scheduled programing...

I have another Nail-Venturous polish for you today! Besides the well know Floam, Amy from Nail-Venturous does some other pretty unique polishes. I couldn't stray away from my matte glitters for to long! So I have for you Nail-Venturous- Orange You Unique! I wasn't quite sure if I would like Orange You Unique, but I do! As weird as this sounds, it's almost a subtle polish?! Close up, you can see all the orange, blue and white glitters. From far away it's not so bright and just has a speckled effect, weird huh? It has a slightly orange tinted base and had pretty great coverage in just two coats. If I remember correctly, Floam took three and there was still a bit of nail showing through. I'm pretty sure you can only get Nail-Venturous polishes from Ninja Polish at the moment. I don't think Amy's Etsy is open or will be any time soon. Picture Time!

Oh Nerd Lacquer, can you please come back? I know there is a bit of controversy surrounding Nerd Lacquer but I must say, it is probably my favorite Indie brand. At the moment there is no where to buy Nerd Lacquer's from except Ebay or swaps. I really hope Nerd Lacquer returns in the near future because I have a serious hankering for some more Nerds. I'm very sorry if anyone is having problems with Nerd Lacquer. I hope everything get's sorted out! Today I'm showing you one of my newest Nerd Lacquers, Event Horizon. I received Event Horizon from Alyson over at Beads Nails Food in a swap we did within a group on Facebook. I can't tell you how damn excited I was when I opened my package and saw this! Alyson, I <3 you!
Event Horizon is a dark greenish blue jelly jammed packed with tiny glitter. I did two coats, one thin and one thick. It applied pretty evenly and the glitter dispersed nicely. It has tiny silver holographic glitters that catch the light nicely. In the pictures, it seems slightly sheer at the tips but I find that to be fairly common with jelly polishes. I am so happy I have this polish! Picture time!

Gorgeous, no? Did you have a chance to snag any Nerd Lacquer's before they disappeared?
Don't forget to enter both of my giveaways! I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

21st Birthday Mani!

Woohoo, it's my birthday! I figured I would spice my mani up a bit and do a cupcake nail. Now I'm not that great at nail art and my clean up was a bit messy because I was in a rush. I think it turned up pretty cute though! If you can't tell from the title of the post, it's my 21st birthday! So it's party time tonight! Not really, I'm just going out with to eat with friends, but regardless I think it's going to be fun! I bet you can't guess what brand I used for this mani? If you guessed Zoya, you are correct! I seriously can't get enough of the Zoya Beach & Surf collection, and I have a slight love affair with Zoya anyway. I'm pretty sure it's my favorite brand. Sorry if you guys have been Zoya-ed out! I used Zoya- Rory with just a tiny bit of Zoya- Shelby and Essie- Marshmallow on my cupcake.

Amy's Nail Boutique- Cotton Candy

Today I have another matte glitter to fuel your obsession! It's a layering combo with Cotton Candy from Amy's Nail Boutique. That gal Amy sure makes some pretty polishes! I'm not sure if both glitters in this polish are matte or if the blue is regular and the pink is matte. I can't quite tell, but it's a simple yet pretty polish. I'm sure I've said it before, I'm not to keen on glitters I have to layer. I generally like glitters that will eventually become opaque. For matte glitter, I can make an exception! I was originally going to layer Cotton Candy over Zoya- Dove but went with Zoya- Kristen instead. I'm saving Dove for another matte glitter combo. Zoya- Kristen is a pale grayish-blue, and as with most cremes from Zoya, was opaque and smooth in two coats. Kristen went more blue on me which is what I had hoped for. I also did two coats of Cotton Candy and ended with a nice amount of glitter on the nail. I feel like this is a really girly mani without being pink, flashy and in your face. Picture time!

Super pretty, no? I'm really excited because my next post is going to be my 21st birthday mani!! I was going to do that mani tonight but we have a little girls birthday party tomorrow at work, and like I've said, my job is a mani killer! For those of you wondering, I work at Lush Cosmetics. I figured I should mention that sense I mention my job in posts all the time :) I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far! Has any one tried any of Amy's polishes yet?

I died when I saw this so I though I would share. It's necessary to sing it like the song :D

Essie- Mojito Madness With Stripes!

Boy, oh boy, I sure love me some green polish! I saw this pretty baby at Walgreens and just had to pick it up. I'm not on a no buy or anything..... ;)

I knew before I put Mojito Madness on that I was going to love it. I also knew I wanted to add some type of design. I had yet to try out my striping tape I ordered so I pulled it out and this was the end result! I call this design, "American Eagle Chic" LOL! Doesn't it look like a polo shirt you would get from American Eagle!? I love it regardless, and I was very happy with the application of Mojito Madness. It has perfect two coat coverage. As for it being my first time using striping tape, it was fairly easy. I did my two coats of Mojito Madness topped with a coat of Poshe, laid down the tape, applied a thick layer of OPI- No Room For The Blues, pulled off the tape, LET IT DRY (very important or it will smudge when you apply your top coat), laid down the silver stripe and applied a second coat of Poshe. And that my friends, is how you can achieve your "American Eagle Chic"mani at home! On to the pictures!

One coat of OPI- No Room For The Blues

WOOOOOOO! I am currently 11 followers away from 100! Seriously, you guys have no idea how excited I am to do my giveaway!!!! Have you guys ventured into the world of striping tape?

BTW, did any of you watch the Pretty Little Liars season premier? What did ya think???

Lush Lacquer- Spring Fling

How's everyones weekend going so far? I of course have another indie to show you today! It's Spring Fling from Lush Lacquer on Etsy. Now I'm not sure how I feel about this polish. I mean it's pretty, but it isn't what I expected. On me it turns into this peachy-pink but in their swatches it shows up as a true pink and it states that it is a "mauve-pink". I'm sure the peachiness comes from it's golden shimmer, which like I said is very pretty, but on my skin tone it's...blah. I'm also sad that the a majority of the hex glitter is stuck to the side of the bottle. Spring Fling is opaque at two coats but I did three because I wasn't happy with the amount of hex glitters on my nails. I'm super excited for some of their new polishes they released earlier this week! I'm on a June no buy though so maybe if I'm lucky i'll receive some from the wonderful ladies in my birthday group ;) Or maybe i'll buy some as a birthday present to myself seeing as how I turn 21 on the 11th, woohoo party time!!! Anywho, on to the pictures!

Three coats of Lush Lacquer- Spring Fling
One coat of Gelous
One coat of Poshe

Have you guys tired any Lush Lacquer polishes yet? I have about 14 followers to go till I can do my 100 follower giveaway! It would be so awesome if I can hit 100 by my birthday! I'm almost to excited for the giveaway to wait, it's gonna be awesome!!!
