Dexter Splatterday!

Who's excited for the Dexter season seven premiere on Sunday? I know I am, obviously :P I had another post planned for today but it will just have to wait! I was inspired by Dexter's job as a blood splatter analyst! And then Dexter Splatterday was born! I was to excited to wait and post this on Sunday. Then I wouldn't be able to call it Splatterday. So I'm showing it to you all today! I really love how this turned out! This was my first time using the Revlon Colorstay polishes and I'm very impressed. I might have to pick up a few more!

I saw the Revlon Colorstay in Bare Bones and I knew I just had to get it! What the perfect polish to use as the base for my Dexter splatter! Bare Bones is more of a cool tone beige. I thought it was just the right shade of "dead". I also picked up Velvet Rope which as just a smidge darker then a typical red. The application was great. I am really in love with the brush! It's one of those rounded but flat brushes. It covers the nail perfectly. This is a great idea for a simple Halloween mani as well!

Lattice Nail Art

Welcome and thank you to all my new readers! I hope you all are enjoying my blog and are excited for my giveaway! <3

I have a simple yet fun nail art for you guys today! I am way to excited for this post! Seriously, I'm in love with the way this mani turned out. It's so elegant but still packs a punch. I decided I would call this a "lattice" design. It is super easy because all you need is striping tape. Oh, and polish of course. The layout is fairly simple. It's three pieces of striping tape diagonally placed with three more placed in the opposite direction. I really love the color combo I chose!

For the base of my lattice design I used Zoya- Natty which is a dusty navy from their Fall 2012 collection. This is such a pretty color and of course has amazing formula like most Zoya's. I used two coats. The polish that really makes this design pop is Catherine Arley- 667. I applied 667 after I laid down my striping tape. It's a gorgeous smoky gray holographic polish. 667 looks awesome against Natty. It's just so, so pretty!

Aren't Catherine Arley polishes so stunning!? I can see myself doing this mani in a bunch of different color combos. Not to mention it's probably the easiest nail art I have ever done. Hope you guys like it!

My picks from the All That Glitters Halloween BOO-tique Collection!

Hi guys! I have some more Halloween polishes for you today, imagine that! This time I have my picks from the All That Glitters Halloween BOO-tique Collection! The Boo-tique Collection (how stinking cute is that name) has six Halloween inspired polishes. The collection as a whole was really pretty but only these three stood out to me: Pumpkin King, Horror Business and Night Fright. She had them all available for preorder about two weeks ago and I jumped on them so I wouldn't have to bother getting them off Etsy. She has listed them in the Etsy store as preorders but only a few are available at the moment along with the whole collection set. Are you ready to see the ones I picked?!?

Before I get on to the rest of the pictures I'll let you know that all the polishes are topped with one coat of Gelous and one coat of Poshe. They are also all two coats over a base polish or by themselves. I've been messing around with the angles of my pictures a bit so let me know how you like them!

First up we have Pumpkin King! I love the name! It's very fitting for this polish. Pumpkin King was the first clear based orange and black glittered polish that really caught my eye. It has two different types of orange hex glitter, one more shiny then the other. It also had different size black hexes with black bar glitter to. I did kinda dab this one on to the nail but it wasn't hard to apply at all. Pumpkin King is over three coats of Maybelline- Porcelain Party.

Next up is Horror Business! This one is a bright green jelly base with purple, green, and a few black glitters in different shapes and sizes. It has hexes, squares and bars. Now this one had a harder application. Not terrible but the second coat did not want to spread evenly at all. I had to really work with it. It turned out super stunning though! Horror Business is over three coats of Zoya- Apple. The shimmer you see in the polish comes from Apple. I love the combo of the two.

Last but not least we have Night Fright! This was the first one I knew I had to have! I'll be honest I was expecting it took look a little different based on the first swatch I saw from All That Glitters. Regardless, it did not disappoint! It's like a Halloween party in a bottle. Night Fright is a brownish- black jelly base with orange and purple hexes with green bar glitters. Once I swatched Night Fright I knew it would build to full coverage on it's own. I went against my gut feeling and layered it just incase. I did leave it on it's own on my ring finger. On the rest of my nails, it's layered over OPI- Black Onyx. I like it better on it's own but it's still pretty layered. Application was pretty good.

Zoya Splatter Mani!

Hi everyone! I tried the splatter technique finally! I always look at how pretty splatter manis are but I was always a bit intimidated by them! They looked so messy and to be honest, they really are. I learned some things along the way that will make the process a bit earlier from now on. I'm really excited to try my hand at it again soon!

For today's splatter I used two Zoya colors, Kristen and Feifei. I'm seriously obsessed with how pretty this is! For a basic splatter mani you sill need your polishes, a straw (I cut mine in half) and either tape or Vaseline to protect around you nails. Protecting around my nails is where I really messed up! It slipped my mind and man did I regret it! I had to basically scrub FeiFei off my hands for about ten minutes. For my right hand I applied Vaseline all around my nails and that helped a bunch because I could just wipe everything right off. Manicurator has an awesome post on how to use a spray bottle instead of a straw so I think I might try that next time!

For this mani, I started with two coats of Zoya- Kristen which is a soft, greyish blue. It definitely leans more blue on me. I love this polish because it's opaque in two coats. For the splatter I used Zoya- Feifei which is a very hard color to describe. It's sort of a metallic blue base with flashes of green, gold, blue and pink sparkle. It's super gorgeous and flashy! I love the parts of the splatter where it's like a little blob of polish because you can really see the complexity of Feifei. I included an extra photo so you can see the all the crazy shimmer!
